This study was conducted to identify predatory mite species on pepper, tomato, bean, cucumber, pumpkin, watermelon, melon, and eggplant plant leaves between 2018 2019 Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Muş provinces. 1063 samples were collected 676 of these which observed with species. Predatory identified belonging the Phytoseiidae family, constitues 10.65% samples. The mites listed as Neoseiulus barkeri Hughes, bicaudus Wainstein, marginatus (Wainstein), zwoelferi (Dosse), sp., Phytoseius finitimus Ribaga, Proprioseiopsis messor Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) bagdasarjani Wainstein Arutunjan, rhenanus (Oudemans) recki (Wainstein) in this study. wasdetected most common 57.44% total number individuals three detected host plants Cucumis sativus L. at 60.59%; Solanum melongena (Family name) 15.94% while least vegetable Capsicum annuum 1.06% percentages.

Effects of azadirachtin on Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) and its compatibility with predatory mites (Acari: Phytoseiidae) on strawberry.

BACKGROUND The spider mite, Tetranychus urticae, is the major strawberry pest in Brazil. The main strategies for its control comprise synthetic acaricides and predatory mites. The recent register of a commercial formula of azadirachtin (Azamax(®) 12 g L(-1) ) can be viable for control of T. urticae. In this work, the effects of azadirachtin on T. urticae and its compatibility with predatory mit...

Ambulatory and Aerial Dispersal Among Specialist and Generalist Predatory Mites (Acari: Phytoseiidae)

Predator-prey systems having a specialist predator often are over-exploitive, unstable and transient while similar systems having a generalist predator show less ßuctuation, more stability and regulation of prey at lower densities. These population dynamics also affect dispersal patterns between specialist and generalist predators. In this study, ambulatory and aerial dispersal were assessed fo...

Evaluation of predatory mite (Acari: Phytoseiidae) releases to suppress spruce spider mites, Oligonychus ununguis (Acari: Tetranychidae), on juniper.

A laboratory trial evaluated four phytoseiid species for their potential as biological control agents of spruce spider mite, Oligonychus ununguis (Jacobi) (Acari: Tetranychidae). An augmentative biological control approach, using the predatory mites Neoseiulus fallacis Garman and Galendromus occidentalis Nesbitt (Acari: Phytoseiidae), was evaluated for reducing pest mite densities and injury, a...

Canalization of body size matters for lifetime reproductive success of male predatory mites (Acari: Phytoseiidae)

The adaptive canalization hypothesis predicts that highly fitness-relevant traits are canalized via past selection, resulting in low phenotypic plasticity and high robustness to environmental stress. Accordingly, we hypothesized that the level of phenotypic plasticity of male body size of the predatory mites Phytoseiulus persimilis (low plasticity) and Neoseiulus californicus (high plasticity) ...

Phytoseiid mites (Acari: Phytoseiidae) from Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.

Predatory phytoseiid mites have been intensively studied and surveyed in the last decades because of their economic importance as biocontrol agents of agricultural pests. However, many regions of the world remain unexplored and the diversity of the family worldwide is still fragmentary. Up to date no phytoseiid species have been collected in the southernmost part of the Earth down to latitude 4...
